CoSMeSe (Interacademic Union for studying of natural
secondary metabolites) was established in 2005 to promote and coordinate the activities of the
researchers of the University of Roma “La Sapienza”, Novara
and Cagliari, undertaken to isolate and distinguish the secondary metabolites
of natural origin. Today, these molecules represent an important sector
with great potentiality. Actually, plant world offers a large range of
complex and original structures, essential to the development of new
molecules destined to pharmaceutical, herbal, cosmetic and nutraceutical
field.
Another priority of CoSMeSe is the post-degree training with Research
Doctorates, Specialization Schools and/or first and second level Master,
improving scientific knowledge of young graduates in Vegetal Biology,
Phytochemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy and Toxicology areas.
COSMESE is managed by a Board of directors constituted by a representative
of each Academic Institute and a representative of the Researchers. The
Board of directors designates the Director with function of representation,
scientific coordination and administrative management. He is assisted
by a Research Council composed of three Emeritus Researchers who select
the research lines and the projects, valuing the actions and the results.
